- For $15, these got the job done perfect. They are by no means high quality, but they function just fine. I took the plastic covers off and squirted some wd-40 inside before their first use and I will end up throwing some grease inside the shifting mechanism, which is me just doing over kill to get the most out of them.They came with tons of gear shift cable but no brake cables.I used these shifters / brake handle to replace the ones on my 80’s mountain bike. I’ll see how long they last, but they change the derailleurs just fine for $15
